Why choose Birmingham?

Choosing where to study is a very personal decision and one that will have a lasting impact on your life. So why choose Birmingham? Here are a few reasons that may help you make up your mind.

Learning and teaching

We provide a learning experience that deepens your knowledge of your subject and equips you with a range of skills to prepare you for the world of work.

The campus

Birmingham's green and leafy campus has all the facilities of a small town, and has been ranked as one of the top three campus environments in the country.

A global university

Our students have a variety of opportunities to study abroad, and we welcome around 4,500 international students to Birmingham each year.

World rankings

As an international university, we are keen to measure up on a global stage:

1.We are ranked 66th in the Times Higher Educational (THE) World University Rankings for 2009. This places Birmingham 10th in the UK

2. We are ranked 91st in the Jiao Tong (China) worldwide league table of universities, and are one of only 11 UK higher education institutions to feature in the top 100 universities

 Entry requirements

1. Individual schools and departments – entrance requirements are given in each programme, school or departmental entry of this prospectus

2. Qualifications and experience – any academic and professional qualifications or industrial experience you may have are normally taken into account, and in some cases form an integral part of the entrance requirement

3. Taught and Research programmes – entry to our taught and research programmes usually requires a good Honours degree, or the equivalent if you have been educated outside the UK

4. Non-standard qualifications – if your qualifications are non-standard or different from our entry requirements, please contact the relevant school or department to discuss whether your application would be considered
