In The Times' Top Universities 2007 League Table, Loughborough
was ranked 6th out of all universities in the UK. In fact,
only Oxford, Cambridge and a handful of London-based
institutions were able to better us in the widely respected
league table, which assesses 9 key aspects of universities and
combines them into an overall score.
Loughborough is research-intensive. Its ethos from its
earliest days has been to produce highly relevant research
that solves real world problems to assist both business and
industry, and improve people's quality of life. Nearly half of
the University's income is for research, and its research
partnerships and links with business and industry are the envy
